We perform this surgery using silicone implants, commonly referred to as prosthetics or implants. This surgery can enhance the size of the breasts and provide a lifting effect. However, sometimes an implant alone is not sufficient for a breast lift, and in such cases, additional incisions and tissue adjustments may be necessary to achieve the desired lift.

Why is Breast Augmentation Surgery Needed?

This surgery is performed for aesthetic purposes. It can also be a part of mommy makeover surgeries called mommy make over. The decision to proceed with surgery is based on the patient's preferences and the evaluation by your doctor.

How is the Surgery Performed?

The desired breast size should be discussed with your doctor. I recommend choosing an implant size that is in harmony with your body's proportions and your existing breast tissue. Rather than fixating on a specific volume, it's ideal to select a range of implant sizes.

Once the implant selection is finalized, preparations for the surgery are made. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia (you will be asleep). You will typically stay in the hospital for one night after the surgery. You will need to wear a special compression garment for one month following the surgery.

Techniques Used

Breast augmentation surgery can be performed through an incision under the breast fold, around the areola, or through the armpit. My preferred method is to make an incision under the breast fold. The breast implant, commonly known as silicone, can be placed either under or over the pectoral muscle. Your doctor should make this decision, although if both options are viable, you may be given the choice.

In some breast augmentation surgeries, although the implant achieves sufficient enlargement, it may not provide an adequate lift. In such cases, tissue adjustments are required, and a breast lift surgery (mastopexy) is performed. When this surgery is performed, there will be scars around the areola and on the lower part of the breast.

Pre- and Post-Operative Care

Preparation Process: Preparation includes blood tests, a health check-up, and pre-operative dietary recommendations.

Post-Operative Recovery: Swelling will occur after the surgery, but it usually subsides within one to two weeks. It is important to avoid strenuous physical activities during the recovery period and to protect your skin from the sun. Regular use of the compression garment is crucial.

Pain and Discomfort: Pain is expected on the first day after the surgery. In the following days, the level of pain will depend on the placement of the implant and the patient's pain threshold.
