About Me

MEHMET TAPAN

I was born in Ankara in 1985. I studied in German and English language preparatory classes. I graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2011.

When I graduated from medical school, the only branch I wanted to be was Plastic Surgery. For this purpose, I started my residency training at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital Plastic Surgery Clinic, which was my first choice in the first Medical Specialization Examination I took. During my residency, I worked on many scientific articles, participated in reconstructive, hand and microsurgery and aesthetic surgeries. I treated many terrorist attacks and international patients.

In 2017, I worked at Izmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital for my service obligation duty and performed many aesthetic surgeries. For 1 month, I was assigned to Hakkari Şemdinli district on the border of Northern Iraq. In October 2019, I joined the team of Prof. Dr. Ömer Özkan, who performed the world's first successful uterus transplant, Turkey's first face and double arm transplants, and took part in double arm transplants and uterus transplant patients. I performed many plastic and microsurgical surgeries. At Akdeniz University, I gave lectures to plastic surgery residents and medical faculty students as a lecturer and consultant doctor for about 2 years and as an assistant professor for about 2 years, respectively.

In April 2024, I was awarded the title of FEBOBRAS (Fellow of European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery) by qualifying for the European Board Certificate in Vienna.

Based on my extensive work, participation in a variety of specialized surgeries, lectures delivered to medical students and Plastic Surgery residents, published international research, and academic achievements, I applied for Associate Professorship in October 2024 through the Interuniversity Board. Following the evaluation process, I was awarded the title of Associate Professor.

I have been examining my patients in my own practice since January 2024.

I am married and have one child. Due to my interest in languages, I speak English, German and a little French. I love nature, cultures, good food and science.
